City of Vancouver wants more parking turnover

Paid parking on Fraser Street between 43rd and 49th Avenue was proposed by the City of Vancouver in July. Over this Thanksgiving weekend, that proposal was put into effect.

Street parking along Fraser Street and in the six parking lots that run behind the storefronts have now been turned into paid parking spots. For 60 years, the parking spots have been kept free for customers by local commercial property owners who paid an annual tax to the City of Vancouver. Now it is the customers who pay for the upkeep of the lots.

In the video, Tierney Grattan explores how the change is affecting the area.
