Mental health-related stigma is harmful and can lead to a range of negative outcomes, including social isolation.
Men can be affected by such stigma and they may avoid seeking help over fear of losing the acceptance of their peers.
Recent data from the Mental Health Commission of Canada shows that of the estimated 4,000 suicide deaths in Canada each year, up to 75 per cent are men.
