City Declares Feb. 1 as Takashi Murakami Day
Some artists are celebrating, while others criticize the city for not recognizing local talent

This month, the City of Vancouver declared Feb. 1 as Takashi Murakami day. Murakami is a famous Japanese artist known for fusing contemporary and commercial art. From now until March, Murakami’s first solo exhibition in Canada can be seen at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
